Couples Therapy
Couples therapy does not mean that your relationship is over or even in trouble. As we move through phases of life together, we can sometimes get stuck in frustrating patterns and repeated conflicts that can leave us feeling confused, sad, lonely, angry or resentful. As a relationship therapist, I aim to help couples find pleasure and connection in their relationships.
Therapy offers your relationship a little support. In therapy, we explore individual attachment styles, early attachment wounds and how we bump up against each other in our relationship dynamic, causing disconnection. By understanding our patterns of behaviour and how we protect ourselves, we can choose to change the way we respond to our partner or partners. When we respond from a place of empathy and curiosity, we can build trust, good communication, connections and safety that promotes vulnerability resulting in a more meaningful relationship.
In couples therapy, I meet first with the couple, and then I meet with each person in the relationship for an individual session. These sessions help me to understand your early beginnings and the ways you connect with others in the world. After our individual sessions, we come back together to explore your relationship dynamics and the ways we connect and disconnect.
